There was a shower That shook a treeA branch broke free And shut out the powerKids gathered noisilyAdults responded quickly The police arrivedThe loggers followedThey sawed the wood But left the leavesTea was servedJokes were sharedKudos were heardPictures were clickedWhile Nature witnessedAll that happenedWill this recur?Will the tree go next?Will that hurt someone?Will anyone help?Don't just wait and watch! 

Most pedestrians and cyclists in the city can attest to the fact that Bangalore is as unfriendly as it can be, to them. In the wake of the recent fuel hike, I was looking at my photographs when I saw this one, that I took last November...That's the helipad at U B City, on Grant, sorry, Vittal Mallya Road. And I was wondering....how often is that helipad going to be used, given the present (and future) price of hi-octane aircraft fuel? (Helicopters cannot run on kerosene....)Oh, we have the eye-catchers, but do we have anything below that to support it at…

 We are a city of very knowledgeable people. We know exactly where we are, and we don't need to be informed about our whereabouts by some stupid signboard. In fact, the signboard is only there to stick posters on, and inform people about other events or goods on offer....until such time as those posters are legible. If a newcomer comes to Bangalore, s/he, too, will know instantly, just by looking at the name board, that this Billposterpuram or Stickernagar or Advertisment Layout.Of course...with maps on one's mobile phone, and being online all the time....name boards are now a quaint relic from…
