Read moreMeet Ganesh, a rapicker. I met him when we went around Malleswaram with our Corporator. We were trying to create solutions for the road-side garbage dumping. Ganesh was retrieving recyclables from a dump near the Malleswaram Market on 9th cross. He was a very pleasant person and showed us his booty. I just started realising that he is an Eco Hero who is doing what we should be doing....Reduce ..Reuse ..Recycle. I see a big conflict there: that dump is his bread and butter while we were looking at eliminating it! Creating alternative options for these workers will be a win-win situation…

Read moreAfter starting to use BMTC buses, one of our federation members, Jayvant Anantpur, wrote a nice article why we should still use BMTC instead of our personal vehicles in Bangalore. Read on... I agree that we should try to use BMTC as much as possible. I have been trying to do that for one year now and have successfully figured out how to commute by BMTC from Bellandur gate to IISc (between Malleshwaram & Yeshwantpur).I won't say the bus rides are very smooth etc but when compared to driving my car or going by auto/taxi, I think going by BMTC…

In Bengaluru, the ban will be in effect from today.Banning thin plastic bags and charging consumers is only the first step. BBMP has announced plans to setup waste segregation and plastic collection centres in ward.
