Kaikondarahalli lake is a community resource that has been heralded as one of the success stories of lake rejuvenation in Bangalore. More and more photographers have been flocking to the lake to take photos in the past years.  Since the lake inspires so many, we thought a fitting way to pay tribute to the lake would be to invite photographers to participate in a unique exhibition about the Lake.  Here are the details: WHAT: Bring us your photographs... a leaf, a cloudy sky over the lake, the sun shimmering on the water, a gardener working with the plants, a jogger,…

 The Government has declared many cycling lanes and Jayanagar ought to be a pleaurable place for cyclists. But the reality? Ah, that's different. Lots of motorists happily use the space as "free parking", and even the police sometimes put their metal barricades here. People pile their trash in the lanes, or store construction material there.So...in actual practice...the cycling lanes are sometimes more dangerous than just keeping on the road...because one is suddenly forced into the traffic, and exposed to the hazards of the motorized traffic behind one. ⊕

At the Independence Day celebrations at Brigade Millennium on 15th August, PNLIT Young Rangers were given a few minutes to talk to the gathering of 200-odd residents, about lakes and PNLIT. PNLIT was also given a stall where the youngsters promoted PNLIT's T-shirts, cloth bags and nature walks. Sincere thanks to the Brigade Millennium Residents Federation (BMRF) for the opportunity.PNLIT Trustee Nupur Jain, who has been guiding the Young Rangers said, "the children gave good speeches and very excitedly sold the T-shirts, bags and a nature walk".Registration for the Nature Walk is open. Details below.   That was how around 40 of us reclaimed our space vociferously and visibly on the roads of Madiwala (South Bangalore) and its environs between 5.00-7.00 pm last Saturday, 4th August. We energetically and emphatically expressed our views against various recent cases of moral policing and sexual assault across India including Guwahati, Mandya (Karnataka) and Mangalore. Ithi (meaning "a start" in Sanskrit), a support forum for women employed in the IT/ITeS industry organized the action which attracted necessary attention from local residents, college students and onlookers some of who joined us. Starting with a stationary protest at a busy corner…

A meeting of lake teams in Bangalore was organised by Arekere Neighbourhood Improvement Trust (ANIT) together with OneBengaluru on 5th Aug 2012.
