Among the many times that I wonder about how the extremely marginalized cope with an empty stomach is when I hear the words "Mummy, I am hungry" on television. It is the ad jingle for a snack popular with children and youth since it entered India over twenty five years back. And it reminds me of the umpteen choices of 'fast' foods (usually unhealthy), available in urban areas. The Annual Generel Meeting (AGM) of Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) was held on 24th July. A R Khaleel was re-elected as President of the Association for another term of two years. The Karnataka State Hockey Association, 'B' Division Hockey League Championship began on the 22nd of July and will go on till the 21st of August. The championship follows the recently concluded 'C' Division League which saw Bellary Hockey Club beat Ideal Sports Club from KGF, 1-0 at the finals which was held on 15th July earlier this month.Twenty six teams from across the State will battle it out on the turf in 62 matches for the 'B' Division Championship. Update from Priya Ramasubban, one of our active residents, working on improving Kaikondrahalli Lake. As most of you who frequent the lake would have noticed, we now have security guards in place and lots of deweeding and maintanence work going on.  Phase II of BBMP’s work – i.e. leveling the pathways, creating a separate cycling path, putting up the new fence and gates; creating play spaces and exercise spaces; etc. – has started last week and we are hoping the contractors will finish the work by the end of the year. The lake post-rejuvenation shows vast expanse of water. Pic: Sohel…

Here's an invitation to you to join us with your children at Puttenahalli Lake Near MLR Convention Hall, Brigade Millennium from 9 am to 11 am tomorrow and on Sunday for gardening. Mix a little bit of work with lots of fun watching birds (the latest visitor is a white breasted kingfisher), spotting fishes (there are at least three varieties in the lake).
