Over 1000 people participated in various activities at the World Environment Day celebrations organised by YUVA, and held around Allalasandra Lake area this morning.   Tree planting in Allalasandra lake area was done by Bengaluru MLC Mr.Narayanaswamy, BBMP Yelahanka zone Joint Commissioner Mr.Sarfaraz Khan, Ward 4 Corporator Mr.Satish, YUVA members, local citizens, students of Sheshadripuram College, Poorna Prajna School, MES and Govt PU college.   Students from Sheshadripuram College took out an awarness rally in Yelahanka New Town, on the plastic ban, waste segregation and water conservation. Saplings were distributed. Bhoomi Thayi Balaga entertained the public with songs about the environment and lakes.…

Yelahanka United Environment Association (YUVA), along with BESCOM, is organising LED bulbs distribution at highly concessional rates at Allalasandra Lake in Yelahanka New Town, on Saturday 23rd Jan and Sunday 24th Jan 2016 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. LED bulbs of 9 watts will be sold at Rs 100 per bulb. The number of bulbs per person will be restricted. Please carry address proof/ ID proof to avail the offer. Carry bags will not be given, so please cary your own. Free replacement warranty for 3 years on every bulb.

Who wants to get up early on a Sunday morning and that too, to do work in a public space? Sunday, 26th July 2015 saw more than 150 students of Seshadripuram PU College, Yelahanka at Allalasandra Lake doing just this. Led by the NSS co-ordinators of the college, Dr Subhash, Mr Shantaveerappa and Dr Mune Gowda, the students spent over fours hours (8 a.m. to 12 noon) working along the walking track, pulling out overgrown weeds and collecting garbage.  The 44 acre Allalasandra Lake in Yelahanka New Town is on its way to revival having been watchfully nurtured over the last…
