Most pedestrians and cyclists in the city can attest to the fact that Bangalore is as unfriendly as it can be, to them. In the wake of the recent fuel hike, I was looking at my photographs when I saw this one, that I took last November...That's the helipad at U B City, on Grant, sorry, Vittal Mallya Road. And I was wondering....how often is that helipad going to be used, given the present (and future) price of hi-octane aircraft fuel? (Helicopters cannot run on kerosene....)Oh, we have the eye-catchers, but do we have anything below that to support it at…

 I do not often indulge in nostalgia, being a person who enjoys the vibrancy of the present as much as the glow of the past. But once in a while.... It was saddening to read of the closure of Hotel Brindavan, on M G Road.The value of everything seems to be reckoned only in money terms, in Bangalore, at least....there seems to be no value for heritage, history or culture...except if they can be marketed as "heritage", "history", and "culture". Otherwise, it is all "real estate". Sad at the inverted-commaization of our inheritance...we are now camera-toting tourists, treading over our own…

The 20th Inter Club Billiards and Snooker Handicap Tournament will be held from January 9th at the KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) Clubhouse Billiards Section. The tournament will be open to all clubs affiliated to Karnataka State Billiards Association (KSBA).Twenty five entries are permitted. The matches will be in teams, with five players in each team and four to play. Best of three games will be selected. KSCA will simultanously hold the Karun Muthaiah Memorial Dependents Handicap Inter Club Snooker Tournament at the same venue, under the auspices of KSBA. Twenty entries are permitted.⊕
