In 2015, Whitefield Rising volunteers joined hands with Samridhdhi Trust to run a Bridge School for children of construction workers in Nallurahalli area of Whitefield. Rotary and various companies contributed to the cause. Meanwhile, many students who went through various bridge schools run by Samridhdhi Trust in Bengaluru have passed recently held board exam with flying colours.   The Bangalore Effective Education Task Force (BEETF) Annual Day is organised to celebrate the achievement of our students and BEETF for bridging the gap in education and admitting 500+ ultra-poor, out-of-school-children to mainstream formal schools in the year 2015-2016.  Date: 28th May 2016.Time: 10:45 am -…

This Mother's Day, remember the “mother of all battles” that happened in Bengaluru some weeks ago? No, it was not fought on a cricket pitch. Rather, it involved moms who were part of a common forum on Facebook--a group called Mums of Bangalore (MoB, the acronym, turned out to be prescient, in more ways than one). Moms fought with each other. Local moms took on “outsiders” (including the group-founder) for disrespecting the local language, and being disinclined to learn the language of the place they live/work in. There was slander, much shaming, and slurs hurled back and forth. And of course,…

Over the past few years, we've done many things to raise funds for PNLIT, and we've realised that fund-raising is quite a challenge. To a social-cause fund-raiser who may knock on your door, the most disheartening experience is when you express regret and shut the door. Donations apart, we have often found it difficult to get people to part with Rs 220 for a PNLIT calendar, or even Rs 30, in exchange for a PNLIT wristband.     However, there are many generous souls out there, generous both in terms of time and monetary support, who share our dreams, who believe…
