Spot fixing - a useful way to spend February 15, 2014 Saturday morning. Details below.  A few years ago, some of us from PNLIT spent a few hours in cleaning up a small garbage spot on Puttenahalli Road. Last week,a mammoth conference of psychiatrists was organized at Bangalore. The Annual Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society, We had more than four thousand psychiatrists attendingIt was declared as a green conference and in place of the usual mementos for speakers, six hundred saplings were planted, at Turahalli Reserve Forest.The forest department organized a memorable function on the day before the event. The Indian Psychiatric Society is the first professional organization to take this initiative and I hope more will follow! We've all read the "Utterly butterly delicious" slogan of Amul butter; now it seems to be "udderly butterly delicious, as cows line up for bun-butter-jam at Sri Manjunatha Condiments, Jayanagar, Bangalore...The shop specializes in buns, spread with butter and all kinds of fillings. A quick, filling, and tasty lunch for a lot of office-goers in the area. Even the cattle love it! ⊕

We may be in the twenty-first century, indeed, in the second decade of it...but we still cling to the past in many ways.In a bustling city, this is a common sight...It may be a cheap and eco-friendly form of transportation...if only it didn't choke up traffic!⊕
