Namma Bengaluru Foundation in association with Arakere Neighbourhood Improvement Trust (ANIT), invites one and all to Arakere Habba 2017. 19th February 2017 (Sunday), 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Government Higher Primary School Ground, Arakere Lake (JP Nagar area, South Bangalore) Get to know about the lake and how it can change our future. Enjoy some bird watching, a street play and cultural activities. Children can participate in painting and poster making. Rejuvenation of the lake is in process, but incomplete. The habba aims to create more awareness about the lake's situation and push for completing the pending work from various authorities.

The unprecedented heavy rains of the past few weeks has exposed the vulnerabilty of our erstwhile "City of Lakes" yet again... the vulnerability to flooding, primarily due to haphazard growth and inappropriate land use changes. Another Kere Habba this Saturday! The Horamavu Parisara Abhivruddhi Samiti (HPAS) - formerly Save Horamavu Lakes, in association with Namma Bengaluru Foundation is organising the Horamavu Agara Kere Habba on Saturday, 12th September 2015, from 7 a.m. to 12 noon at Horamavu Agara Kere. Habbas are held periodically at different Bangalore lakes, to create awareness about the importance of our lakes, and encourage citizen participation in their preservation. Allalasandra Lake, Yelahanka will host Bangalore's fifth Kere Habba on Sunday 7th June 2015. Since January this year, the Namma Bengaluru Foundation has been regularly collaborating with local lake groups to organise Kere Habbas (lake festivals) across the city. The earlier four habbas were held at Kaikondrahalli, Puttenahalli JP Nagar, Madiwala and Chellakere.  The Allalasandra Kere Habba is being held in collaboration with Yelahanka United Environment Association (YUVA). About YUVA: YUVA has been in the forefront of the rejuvenation of the 44-acre Allalasandra Lake, with support from the Upa Lokayukta, local MLA, Corporator, BBMP, BWSSB, police officials and citizens.
