Bala from Whitefield wins Mr. Universe Body Builder championship in Germany

Who hasn’t heard of Arnold Schwarzenegger -Hollywood star – California Governor andbody builder – he had won the Mr. Universe  World Amateur Body Builders Championship (WABBA) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7Iaz_r2t-g).

And now the next Mr. Universe Body Builder champion is a young man from our very own Whitefield. G Balakrishna, a 22-year-old youth from Ramagondanhalli village has won the Junior Under 24 title of Mr. Universum in Germany on Nov 16th. As a 19 year old in 2010 he stood 6th in the WABBA Mr. Universe Competition. (http://wabbaworld.com/w-a-b-b-a/history.html) . Pls see this video  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5CPAIVHH0Q. He is number 85 (third from the right).

Whitefield is thrilled and extremely proud to announce that one of its own has won the title of under 24-Mr. Universe in Germany! G. Balakrishna, 22, from Ramagondanahalli, did us proud when he qualified as one of the 6 finalists for the contest.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of funds to travel to Germany, the title almost eluded him. That was when Anjali Saini sent out an SOS to Whitefielders to help out.  She had already contributed Rs 15,000 and requested others to chip in, as well.  An email to Koshy Varghese of VDB resulted in him offering to sponsor Bala’s ticket, visa and stay in Germany. Before he left, Bangalore Mirror did a feature on him, as did Suvarna TV News.

This morning Bala called us from Germany with the terrific news that he had Won the Title! Truly great for him and wonderful for all of Whitefield! He will be returning on Thursday and we look forward to hosting a reception to honour him some time soon. Way to go Bala… Way to go, Whitefield!

To congratulate Bala please email Balakrishna G  at gbalakrishna62@gmail.com. He will be delighted to hear from you.
