The state government is doing a rethink on the Transfer of Development rights (TDR) scheme and announced a panel last week to be led by ABIDE-member Dr A Ravindra, according to the DNA. A public workshop is also going to held soon. This follows much citizen angst and resentment about roadwidening and BBMP's offering of TDR as compensation. I have often taken a bus to  the Majestic bus terminus, and rued the fact that I often have to carry my luggage over a longish distance, climbing the stairs and going down the underground passage, to reach the City Railway Station...and face the same problem on the return journey. A family coming out of Namma Metro Coach, showcased on the MG Road. Pic: PeeVee aka Perumal Venkatesan. Bangalore Metro or Namma Metro is scheduled to start its first phase of operations from Dec 2010. To familiarise and to promote the trains among general public, BMRC is showcasing a metro coach on the MG Road, just next to Anil Kumble Circle. As expected, the coach attracted lot of visitors and this image shows one such family, on their day out. ⊕

Many of you would have noticed the Iblur flyover opened yesterday. The Forward150 federation, Outer Ring Road Companies Association (ORRCA) is working with the traffic police to improve the traffic at the junction.The road leading to Bellandur from Iblur is being cleared and the diversions removed in a weeks time. Vehicles plying from Bellandur towards Iblur need to go on top of the flyover and land at Iblur village cross, vehicles plying from Bellandur towards Sarjapur need to take the left lane/service road before the flyover and turn left.Haphazard parking is a big problem, especially on the roads near Bellandur…

When is a footpath not a footpath?When it's a death-trap....There is simply no reason why we should have such awful pavements; it's just sheer negligence and an attitude of "don't care".This was taken in J P Nagar 3rd Phase, close to the Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind. If we have such difficulty negotiating our roads and pavements....imagine what it must be like for those without vision.⊕
