A brief summary of some news you might have missed out in the last few days. Applications for jobs, awards and other important stuff that happened in the capital city!
Clear 50% or no salary increments
BBMP Administrator Vijayabhaskar held a meeting of principals of all government schools and college in BBMP limits on July 6th 2015. He asked them to improve the pass percentage in the schools and colleges, by marking the low-scoring students and giving extra attention to them. If the trend of scoring below 50% continues, the administrator warned that the salary increments of the principals will be withheld.
He also ordered the stopping of the work started by Railways on the compound of Gandhinagar school. He asked the concerned officials to ensure the provision of water and toilet facilities in every school along with mid-day meals.
Applications invited for State Award
The Government of Karnataka confers awards to individuals and institutions who have worked for the welfare of children for more than five years. The individual award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a citation. The institutional award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a citation.
The prescribed forms for the year 2015 are available with the Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department in the respective districts. The applications must be filled in Kannada and should be submitted to the concerned District Deputy Director of Women and Child Development Department on or before August 14th 2015.
KPSC calls applications for FDA/SDA posts
The Karnataka State Public Commission has invited applications for the posts of First Division Assistants and Second Division Assistants in various departments across the State. Exams will be conducted to fill the vacant posts in October 2015.
Interested candidates can visit KPSC website: http://www.kpscapps.com/fda_sda_blg_sr_jr, and apply online. After applying online, candidates should pay the exam fee through any of the e-payment post offices in Karnataka. The last date for submitting applications is August 1st 2015.
Committee to prevent money lending
The State government has issued an order for the formation of district and sub-division level committees to take strict action against those who violate the Karnataka Moneylenders Act 1961. The Act bans money lending by private individuals with high interest, especially to farmers.
The Committees will also be entrusted with the responsibility of strict implementation of the Karnataka Pawnbrokers Act 1961, the Chit Funds Act 1982, the Karnataka Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act 2004. The district level committee will be chaired by the deputy commissioner of the respective district and sub-division committee will be chaired by the assistant commissioner.
Assistant commissioners are supposed to convene meetings once in 15 days and submit action taken report to the respective DCs. The DCs are supposed to convene meetings once in three months and submit the report to the regional commissioner
