Whitefield. I know the very mention of that name is starting to remind people about all the things that are going wrong in that part of town. In my recent visits to that side too, I have been surprised by the degree to which the city has collapsed over there, and wondering what can be done to retrieve the situation. Rather than continue the litany of complaints, I thought I would put together the things that can be done to tackle the problem, initially focusing on roads and transport. A bus shelter and an expansive walkway is to be formally inaugurated on Monday (October 5, 2015) at 12:15 PM near International Tech Park Bangalore (ITPB) on Whitefield Road. The Xerox CSR project was executed in partnership with Whitefield Rising (WR). As a community partner, WR played the role of an enabler in this initiative. The guests of honour include Shri Arvind Limbavali, MLA, Mahadevapura constituency, Muniswamy, Corporator, Kadugudi ward, and Ekroop Caur, Managing Director, BMTC. The event will be graced by Ms. Arpana Mehra, Vice President, Xerox, and Mr Mohan Kumar, AVP and Head of CSR on ‘Environment Sustainability’…

After three hours, he did vote—he's an inspiration to all of us! His mail: I went to vote in Munnekolalu Govt School where I have always gone to cast my vote in last few years. I got a slip from the volunteers outside the polling station. Polling station was mentioned as "Govt Higher Primary School, Room No 12, Munnekolalu". However was told by polling officers at Munnekolalu school that they have only till room no. 11…

Folks at Whitefield Rising have gone super-creative, by choosing artistic means to express their worries and describe the problems. A rap song released on SoundCloud asks God Mahadeva (Shiva) why the state of affairs in his 'Pura' are in such a  mess, and asks BBMP where the money paid as taxes has gone. Whitefield lies in Mahadevapura zone of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara palike. Apart from this every Friday, people in Whitefield observe Black Friday by dressing up in black. Through the hashtag #WhitefieldBlackFriday on Twitter, they tweet to draw the attention of the authorities and political parties. Here is a…
