The Butterfly Park at Bannerghatta National Park

Well worth the visit.

If you have a little time to spare, do visit Bannerghatta National Park…and the Butterfly Park there. Admission is Rs.10, which is really worth it. Here’s the Butterfly Park signboard:

The dome of the Park itself is a beautiful construction, with the lush greenery inside:

And here are a few butterflies that I snapped inside:

The COMMON MORMON MALE:

The BLUE MORMON:

However, I feel that there should be more pictures of the butterflies inside the enclosure, as most visitors do not know the id’s.

The area around the Butterfly Park seems also a good place to spot some common, and less common, birds; I spotted this TICKELL’S BLUE FLYCATCHER there, but since I did not have a good birding camera, could only take this bad shot:

Of course, the animal safaris are also useful for introducing small children to the mammals in the Indian forests; they need not bother about the fact that animals in captivity are really a sad spectacle! The Park could definitely police its anti-plastic and trash policy a little more effectively, though..the litter is really awful.

But all in all, Bannerghatta National Park..even if it is just the tourist area…is well worth a visit!

How I applied for the renewal of my driving licence

My driving licence expires on 22 Oct '19 (My 65th birthday falls on 23 Oct '19). I found that I have to apply for a renewal within 30 days prior to its expiry, or do it later with a fine. Only part of the process can be done online, and I did it. I went to Parivahan Sewa at https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/ and under "Online Services", clicked on "Driving Licence Related Services". I got this page: https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice9/stateSelection.do I selected my state (Karnataka). Under "Driving Licence" on the left hand side, I clicked on "Services on Driving Licence (Renewal/Duplicate/Aedl/Others)" I found the following…

Nature Feature: A dinner invitation

"Will you walk into my parlour?" Said the spider to the fly. "I've spread a carpet of silk and diamonds! Walk in, and don't be shy! Do come along, for I grow thinner... I've LOVE to have you, ahem, for dinner!" Jokes apart, Funnel Web Spiders also called Wolf Spiders, are named because of the funnel-like web they weave...and the second name is given because they are ferocious predators. They build a flat sheet of nonsticky web with a funnel-shaped retreat to one side or occasionally in the middle, depending on the situation and species. The typical hunting mode is…
