A toast for the young

Sandwichwallas, a fast food joint at JP Nagar offers toasted sandwiches prepared in a homemade style, breaking away from the usual grilled sandwiches. It also features on its menu tasty pizzas, extremely delicious garlic bread, chats and coolers.

The price here is enormously reasonable and the food you get here is worth every single pie you pay. A vegetable sandwich is priced at just Rs 15. Not a single dish on the menu would exceed Rs 40.

"We have about 37 different kinds of toasted sandwiches and everything that is prepared here is homemade, the sandwiches here are prepared on a pan", says Karthik L B, 27, owner of Sandwichwallas.

"This place was started about a year and a half ago in JP Nagar and the other branch is at Gandhi Bazaar which is just about a month old and the response we are getting is really good", he adds.

From sandwiches to Punjabi food, it’s a different world altogether. Delhi Zaika, a Punjabi restaurant, which looks more like a highway Dhaba, is just opposite RV Dental College, JP Nagar. This place is just about two months old. This is a feasible afternoon lunch spot for college goers.

Unseen work, unheard stories: A convention on women and labour

A unique day-long initiative on February 29, 2020 to create a platform for women to honour and amplify their voices, their stories, and their knowledge.

Women’s labour is often unseen and their stories, often unheard. This unseen, invisible, and often unpaid labour is the ground upon which all ‘development’ in this monster economy takes place. We are witness to a moment in time when women are organising, fighting, and demanding their rights, questioning the very ideas of growth, progress and citizenship. In short, they are making their voices heard and making their labour visible. As part of our ongoing Satyagraha for the Sacred Economy, Gram Seva Sangh, Centre for Budget and Policy Studies along with few more organisations want to create a platform in the…
